Miniprep
From PombEvolution
Jump to navigationJump to searchMinipreps are methods to extract plasmid DNA molecules from E. coli or Yeast cells.
In our lab we use a variety of methods.
- Easiest is to use a Miniprep kit from Macherey-Nagel that uses columns on overnight cultures of E. coli. This method yields clean and rather high yields of plasmid DNA
- When many samples need to be tested for integrity, a cheap and dirty miniprep method can be used.
- Finally, the first method can be modified to return higher yields, however at the cost of DNA integrity.
