This solution is used to stain starch. It is useful to stain the cell walls of spores which contain many starch molecules to give the spore wall its protective function.
In a blue cap bottle add

  • 100 ml MQ-water
  • 1 gram Iodine beads
  • 2 gram Potassium iodide

Close well and dissolve by shaking the bottle.
Keep the bottle well closed and put it in the drawer under the flow hood.
