LB - Lysogene broth

Ingredient | Amount |
---|---|
ddH2O | 950 mL |
Tryptone | 10 g |
NaCl | 10 g |
Yeast extract | 5 g |
Add all ingredient to the water and shake until the solutes have dissolved.
Adjust to pH7.0 with 5N NaOH (~0.2 mL). Sterilize by autoclaving for 20min at 121°C (liquid program P2).
Solid medium
For solid medium add 15 gram per liter Bacto-Agar to the medium before autoclaving.
Make sure before adding Antibiotics that you have cooled down your medium to below 60°C!
If you're in luck, sterile LB medium might be found in the shelves in the gel electrophoresis room right-top cupboard at the window.
Lysogeny broth, is also known as: Luria broth, Lennox broth, or Luria-Bertani medium [2]
